چکیده

In this article, construction, operation, and performance of the RICH detector of Fermilab experiment 781 (SELEX) are described. The detector utilizes a matrix of 2848 phototubes for the photocathode to detect Cherenkov photons generated in a 10m Neon radiator. For the central region an N0 of 104 cm , corresponding to 13.6 hits on a β = 1 ring, was obtained. The ring radius resolution measured is 1.6%.

Charm hadroproduction results from Selex The SELEX Collaboration

The SELEX experiment (E781) is 3-stage magnetic spectrometer for a high statistics study of hadroproduction of charm baryons out to large xF using 650 Gev Σ , π and p beams. The main features of the spectrometer are: a high precision silicon vertex system, powerful particle identification provided by TRD and RICH, forward Λs decay spectrometer and 3-stage lead glass photon detector. An experime...

In parallel to charm hadroproduction the experiment Selex (E781) at Fermilab is pursuing a rich hyperon physics program. Selex employs a 600 GeV/c beam consisting of 50 % Σ− and π− each. The three-stage magnetic spectrometer covering 0.1 ≤ xF ≤ 1.0 features a high-precision silicon vertex system, broad-coverage particle identification using TRD and RICH, and a three-stage lead glass photon calo...

A comparative analysis of transcription factor binding models learned from PBM, HT-SELEX and ChIP data

Understanding gene regulation is a key challenge in today's biology. The new technologies of protein-binding microarrays (PBMs) and high-throughput SELEX (HT-SELEX) allow measurement of the binding intensities of one transcription factor (TF) to numerous synthetic double-stranded DNA sequences in a single experiment. Recently, Jolma et al. reported the results of 547 HT-SELEX experiments coveri...

LOI to JLab PAC 31 RF Cherenkov picosecond timing technique for Jlab 12 GeV physics program

A new particle identification device for Jlab 12 GeV physics program is proposed. It is based on the measurement of time information by means of a new radio frequency picosecond phototube (RFPP) and time measuring concept. The expected time measurement precision for Cherenkov time-of-flight (TOF) detector in a “head-on” geometry based on RFPP is about or less than 5 picoseconds, FWHM. The propo...
